Designing Australia’s next generation of low-emissions steel manufacturing.
A defining step forward for Australian steelmaking.
The GM Steel Green Steel Recycling Mill brings together industrial masterplanning, complex process infrastructure and a new model for lower-emissions manufacturing.
Dezine ID supported the project through architectural design, development application documentation, visual communication and coordination across a highly specialised consultant team.

Architecture, process, movement and environment coordinated at industrial scale.
The masterplan separates heavy vehicles, staff access, raw material handling, production, storage, administration and environmental infrastructure.
Building forms respond directly to the steelmaking process while the restrained green and white palette gives the facility a coherent identity within its regional setting.
From industrial process to a coordinated place.

More than a major industrial development.
The project demonstrates how architecture, planning and engineering can enable more circular, lower-emissions manufacturing.
- Scrap steel recycled into reinforcing products
- Support for Australia’s net-zero transition
- Strengthened sovereign manufacturing
- Regional employment and investment
“A highly complex, collaborative and forward-thinking project that reflects real momentum in Australia’s green steel future.”
